As infants, we associate and enjoy the attention we get when bathing which is accompanied with the sparkles and other reflections of light we see in the water. These same reflective qualities seem to be recreated in other surfaces and perceptions, such as jewelry, glitter, electric arc emitting bulbs, mirrors, patent leather, flames, and etc. This may also be a reason we consider white to be associated with being clean and unblemished.
